November Speaker: Ted Barris. Battle of the Atlantic: Gauntlet to Victory

Barris explores the evolution of battlefield medicine at such historic engagements as Fredericksburg, Batoche, the Ypres Salient, the Somme, Vimy, Singapore, Dieppe, Normandy, Falaise, Bastogne, Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

October Speaker: Richard Mewhinney – Green Oranges Project in Uganda.

Richard  spoke about a unique rain-water collection system at Ongutoi Health Centre for drip irrigation in an orange orchard where the revenue generated provides long term free health care for this community and region.


September Speaker: Chris Allum on Protect Your Money

August Speaker: Deidrey Francois – Joyful Singing

Deidrey Francois is a passionate singer/songwriter and a soulful performer. She delighted us with blues, rhythmic rock to jazzy joy as well as entertaining story telling.


July Speaker: Laura Rae on Age-Friendly Ajax Community Plan

Laura Rae is the Policy & Community Support Coordinator for the Town of Ajax. She talked about the first Age-Friendly Ajax Community Plan and other initiatives.

May 2022 Speaker - Barbara Dickson

A story of Canada’s biggest WWII munitions plant (“GECO”) employing over 21,000 citizens, predominantly women, who courageously worked with high explosives around the clock over its four-year history


April 2022 Speaker - Geoff Cutten

Geoff provided us with an April Fools talk based on a Zoological Hoax. He spoke about the "Snouters".This hoax was the whimsical creation of Gerolf Steiner, a zoology professor at the University of Heidelberg


March 2022 Speaker -  Maggie MacKenzie

Maggie MacKenzie is the Heritage Services Coordinator with the City of Richmond Hill.  The topic was the David Dunlap Observatory (DDO) - designated under the Ontario Heritage Act

SPROG is a historical fiction which narrates the adventures of a group of young men who enlist in the Canadian Air Force during WWII
