November

The November meeting was devoted to a celebration of all that was created during the year, and this was done over a delicious lunch provided by Parkland Lifestyle Residences with a lot of chatter from 23 members attending. Also, three more red scarves for Aids Durham were donated.

There will be no meeting in December so I look forward to seeing all the new projects, both completed and works-in-progress, when we next meet.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a very healthy and happy New Year.

October

Twenty-one members met at Parkland Lifestyle Residences for a lively and informative meeting. There was some discussion about methods of quilting and a show-and-tell involving artwork, embroidery, crocheting, knitting and quilting.

September

On a blustery Monday, seventeen ladies met in the Great Room of Parkland Lifestyle Residences and discussed and displayed some completed current and planned projects. There was a Halloween applique, embroidery, working with wire, card making, crocheting and knitting and some discussion on quilting and quilting lessons in the future. We welcomed four new members to the group.

Members brought in blankets and baby hats for Ajax-Pickering Hospital; Halloween costumes for the preemie unit at Sunnybrook Hospital and another red scarf for Aids Durham.

August

Fifteen creative ladies attended the August meeting at Parkland Lifestyle Residences. They shared current works and discussed future projects, all at high volume and intensity.

Some beautifully crafted Hallowe'en costumes were brought in for donation to the Sunnybrook Neonatal Clinic, which will be delivered by Bev Waite, and another red scarf, which will be donated to Aids Durham at Christmas, was delivered.

Projects included knitting and crochet items (blankets and scarves) as well as quilts both completed and in progress.

July

The July meeting of Create and Chat was lively, as always, and informative.

Thirteen members attended the meeting at Parkside Lifestyle Residences and a display of current projects commenced followed by a discussion of projects 'in the works'. Some red scarves were brought in for the Aids Durham donation at Christmas, and a couple of beautifully crafted Hallowe'en costumes were also submitted for the preemie babies at Sunnybrook Hospital. Bev will be delivering them closer to Hallowe'en.

You don't have to be a member of this group to contribute a scarf or costume. You can bring your creation to any meeting and it will be gratefully received. If you need more information please contact me. Also, Roseanne introduced us to a quilted 'fidget' blanket she created that helps calm people with dementia and Alzheimer's.

June

Nine creative people met at Parkland Lifestyle Residences on June 19 to share and discuss current projects and events.

Once again, Bev Waite invited the group to create more Hallowe'en costumes for the neonatal unit at Sunnybrook Hospital, as they were so gratefully received last year. This request is not restricted to the Create and Chat group. If you would like to donate a costume, please contact either Bev Waite or myself. Also, red scarves are still being collected for Aids Durham for Christmas, and blankets (any size) for Ajax Pickering Hospital.

May

Our meeting on May 15th was lively and two new members were welcomed to the group. Quilting, quilling and embroidery, along with knitting and crocheting were some of the activities.

April

Our second meeting at Parkland Lifestyle Residences was lively and productive. Twelve members shared progress on their projects, including quilts, blankets, scarves and artwork.

March

Thirteen busy crafters attended the first meeting at our new location at Parkland Lifestyle Residences in Ajax, bringing with them a variety of work including crochet, quilting, paintwork and even a Sudoku puzzle. It was a lively meeting with a number of patterns and ideas exchanged. Also we welcomed a new member to the group.

February

The February monthly meeting for Create & Chat involved a tour of the newly opened Parkland Lifestyle Residences in Ajax.

Not only were we shown a variety of suites and given information about the new units, but we were treated to a wonderful lunch afterwards. A very brief meeting followed.

January

The January meeting at Westney Gardens was a welcome after-Christmas catch-up involving 10 ladies sharing news of their family gatherings over the holidays and showing completed and in-progress projects.  Some patterns were shared and wool was provided by Aids Durham (in exchange for scarves donated before Christmas).
